Frequently Asked Questions About Biodegradable Oils
What makes a lubricant environmentally acceptable?
- Environmentally Acceptable Lubricants (EALs) should be readily biodegradable (>60% in 28 days according to OECD 301B).
NOTE – beware of any EAL claiming to be inherently biodegradable; this term is misleading, and denotes a product with a much slower rate of biodegradation.
- Low eco-toxicity is also essential in order to minimise the environmental impact of any spills (look for WGK Class 1).
- Energy efficiencies (achieved through a high viscosity index) and extended drain intervals are 2 significant advantages that make ADDINOL’s NATUREPROOF range even more environmentally considerate.
Are biodegradable hydraulic oils just as powerful as conventional oils?
Yes, our biodegradable hydraulic oils offer comparable or even better performance and are environmentally friendly at the same time.
